Most of us would agree that we want to drive more traffic to our websites. More traffic generally leads to more leads and more sales and more income. So how do we drive more traffic to our websites.
One of the easiest ways to drive more qualified traffic to your website is to blog. Blogging provides fresh content which Google loves. Google has been rolling out some new algorithms designed to enhance the user experience. (For a more in depth analysis of recent changes you can check out http://moz.com/google-algorithm-change)
The bottom line is that the future of search engine optimization is quality content. There are still rules you should follow when setting up your site but content is going to be king and there just aren’t any short cuts to quality. But grandma always used to say “Anything worth doing is worth doing right.”
Eventually we all hit that slump where we don’t know what to write about. What is going to be interesting to our readers and drive more traffic to our site. Well unless you have a pet store don’t write about your dog. Use this handy method to find something new to write about.
please note: this method will only work if you have set up google webmaster tools and verified your domain. ( http://www.wordtracker.com/academy/set-up-google-webmaster-tools)
1. Log into Google Webmaster Tools.
2. Navigate to yourwebsite.com -> Search Traffic -> Search Queries
3. Spend a little time searching through the list of things people are searching for. In this example the search term “what is raw honey” is my number 1 search term with an average position of 4.4. This wasn’t always the case. But I wrote this blog article (http://www.thehoneyjarhome.com/what-is-raw-honey) specifically to answer this question because I saw people were searching for it.
4. This time in looking through the listings. And the search phrase “Clover Honey Vs Raw Honey” caught my eye.
So tomorrow I’ll be writing an article about this to post to http://thehoneyjarhome.com.
Note: This is also a helpful way to find new products to sale. If you already have google sending people to your site when they search for something it makes sense to look into offering the product to those people. Just saying…
